The connection of the dissonant Harmonies resolving into the tonic triad
- when dominant chords are repeated, they must not mingle with each other if one is lacking the 5th
- they can do this mingling only if the 7th does NOT get led to the fundamental tone
- ONE EXCEPTION ~ when the fundamental [of the dominant] is found in the ALTO
- they can do this mingling only if the 7th does NOT get led to the fundamental tone
- in general, when the dominant is repeating, just do not lead the 7th into the fundamental
- best practice is keeping the 7th in the same voice, even with inversions of the dominant chord
- chord of the 9th should have the 9th lead into the fundamental of the dominant 7th
- minor chord of the 7th can only be connected if the 7th remains in the same octave
- diminished chord of the 7th
- when before chord of the 9th, the 7th must descend to the fundamental of the dominant chord
- chords of the 7th built on the 5th and seventh scale degree can go to the dominant triad
- only when the 7th of these chords resolve to the fifth of the triad
- remember that contrary motion is our friend
