First Section – Consonant Chords.Triads.

  • triads – a chord with three tones
    • formed with two consonant intervals [third, fifth]
  • fundamental tone [bass] – the lowest tones of the triad
  • third – the middle tone of the three
  • fifth – the highest tone
  • triads are identified by their thirds and fifths
    • major triad – M3 and P5
    • minor triad – m3 and P5
    • diminished triad – m3 and d5
