COMPOSER’S NOTES
Love and Loss is a work detailing a small love story of a young man from the early nineteen-sixties. There are two primary emotions that are implied just through the title. Therefore there are two prime areas of material that play with one another through a straight form. In this way, the listener can rest assured that love works out for this young fellow.
The piece is meant to have a tone that sounds enchanting and well charmed. As the piece continues to evolve, it becomes clear that there is actually a chaotic and destructive nature in love. When trying to find peace in the chaos, there is only one way to resolve it, together.
